All of our blog posts thus far have been about (and will be about) the future — about the coming 2015 utopYAcon four-day conference and all of the happenings therein:
- the pre-conference, in-depth expert workshops that will be announced soon
- the three inspiring keynote speakers
- the 125+ exhibitors
- the 24 educational panels loaded with your favorite authors and special guest experts
- the 12 utopYA idea eXchange talks
- the Friday night Cosplay Karaoke
- the Saturday Fan Day Author Signing Event benefitting Book ‘Em
- the Pre-Awards Happy Hour
- the Fourth Annual utopYA Awards
- the Post-Awards dance party
- the Closing Ceremonies: prizes, raffles, Open Floor Keynote
- and the post-con Write-In
All of those things are in the future. They are all there for you to help you accomplish your dreams, find your tribe, release stress, and celebrate yourself and each other.
But the theme of #utopYA2015 as voted on by you is Time Travel.
So before tickets go on sale on Black Friday, we are going to turn back time…
We are asking all attendees from utopYAcon 2012, 2013 and 2014 to join us for utopYA TIME WARP TUESDAY.
Share your pictures, videos, favorite moments and stories of utopYA:
who did you befriend or who befriended you?
what have you achieved?
what was the most fun?
what was the most outrageous?
what makes utopYA different/special?
what would you say to someone who wants to write a book, but has doubts and fears?
what would you say to someone who has written a bunch of books but hasn’t had the success they thought they’d get and is thinking of giving up?
If you have a story in your heart, and characters in your head driving you crazy, and you think you might want to write a book, tune into Time Warp Tuesday.
If you just finished writing 50,000 words during NaNoWriMo and want to know what to do next, tune into Time Warp Tuesday.
If you are looking for your tribe. If you feel like maybe your book idea isn’t good enough or you should follow the advice of people who have no idea what it’s like to want to be a writer, or artist, or model or designer or editor or…. and you feel like you don’t fit in anywhere, or you feel like a fraud, or like no one will ever take you seriously, or that you aren’t good enough yet to hang out with “real” writers, then PLEASE tune into Time Warp Tuesday.
Maybe you’ve heard of utopYA but you aren’t sure it’s for you — it’s too far, it’s too expensive, it’s too big, it’s too cultish — then please don’t take our word for it. Check out what past attendees have to share on Time Warp Tuesday.
Tomorrow, November 25th, join past and present utopYA attendees as we flood the interwebs with memories. We here on the utopYA team will be doing giveaways all day on the Facebook page — tickets to #utopYA2015, T-shirts, Posters, books, gift cards.
Look for the hashtags #utopYA2015, #TuesdayTimeWarp and #WriteYourOwnFuture.
Before I sign off on this post, I want to thank everyone who has attended and supported utopYA in the past. I’m not sure I can say it enough or adequately get across to you what this community means to me personally —
Tickets to #utopYA2015 go on sale this Friday, November 28th. Ticket price goes up in 2015. Grab yours at http://utopYA2015.eventbrite.com
