It is our extreme pleasure to bring to you at UTOPiAcon 2016 an official screening of the fan-made short film, “Severus Snape and the Marauders,” which will be followed by a Q&A with the writer-director, Justin Zagri of Broad Strokes, as well as some of the cast!!
Back in 2012, we had our very first screening at the very first utopYAcon. It was a fan-made web series called “Auror’s Tale,” and it was set in the Harry Potter universe. To be able to host this upcoming screening at our landmark five year anniversary feels right. With the incredible talent behind, and in, this film, as well as the first class special effects, Potter fans will be on the edge of their seats!
From the official web site:
Set in 1978, Severus Snape, James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew and Lily Evans have just graduated from Hogwarts School. As James and his friends known only to each other as The Marauders drink at a bar, Snape enters as well, hoping to find Lily. Knowing their dark future, and the part Snape might play, James decides to do something about his longtime rival once and for all.
If you’re not familiar with the Broad Strokes team, their first short film that takes place in the Potterverse, “The Greater Good,” is set almost a hundred years before “The Sorcerers Stone.” It explores the end of a friendship, the beginnings of the dark wizard Grindelwald, and the tragedy that left the Dumbledore family in ruins. It has been watched over three million times on YouTube. It clocks in at a little over 17 gripping minutes. It’s awesome. Watch it NOW:
With the successful funding of “Severus Snape and the Marauders” on Kickstarter, the film is expected to be completed by the end of 2015 or early 2016. We are beyond thrilled that Justin will not only be bringing the film and surprise guests to visit with all of you, but he will also be participating on the fan-created content panel, as well.
The screening is currently on the schedule for Thursday, June 24, 2016. Time is still to be determined, and schedule is subject to change.
